Arizona uses new ‘slide’ technique to replace I-40 Bellemont bridges

The Arizona DOT (ADOT) recently replaced spans over I-40 in the Bellemont area by implementing a new accelerated construction technique that essentially slides precast bridges into place, which greatly reduced delays for motorists. By using this technique, crews were able to replace the bridges during a nine-day closure of Transwestern Road over I-40 rather than having the six to eight months of restrictions required for a traditional bridge replacement project.
