Bridge replacement work big part of $43 million in Lancaster County PennDOT projects

The three-year Rapid Bridge Replacement Project began in 2016, when the county had 133 structurally deficient bridges. That meant 18 percent of the 727 state-maintained bridges in Lancaster County were in need of replacement. So far, 20 bridges have been replaced through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation program, and work on the other 10 is taking place this year. (Six are underway, and the final four are expected to begin within the next couple of months.)
