Featured Presentation: NCHRP 12-98, Part 1: Tolerances for Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems (PBES) (35 minutes)

Description: Under the Transportation Research Board’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 12-98, two guidelines were developed. The first guideline covers tolerances for PBES. This presentation will focus on element tolerances, erection tolerances, and layout tolerances. Included will be specifying joint widths, which are used to account for and manage all tolerances during construction. The methods used for the development of tolerances will be presented. Examples of specifying tolerances will also be presented.

Presentation Photos/Graphics:

1) Measuring fabrication tolerances in the shop

2) Assembling PBES using tolerances

3) Specifying erection tolerances

4) Specifying fabrication tolerances

Question & Answer Period: Submit your questions when you register for the webinar and also in the question box during the webinar. (15 minutes)
