Featured Presentation: Observed Long-Term Performance of Prefabricated Deck Level Connections (35 minutes)
Description:
Accelerated Bridge Construction has been in use in the United States for over 30 years. Engineers sometimes express concerns with the durability of ABC technologies, especially with connections between precast elements. Bridge decks are exposed to some of the most challenging environments, especially in northern regions that use significant de-icing chemicals. The webinar will focus on the long-term performance of deck level connections used in ABC including post-tensioned deck panels, longitudinal closure joints, and link slabs. Three projects and 9 bridges will be highlighted with ages ranging from 13 to 35 years. The current conditions of these bridges will be presented along with lessons learned for future projects.
