Featured Presentation: Steel Bridge Rehabilitation Using UHPC to Repair Corroded Steel Beam Ends (35 minutes)
Description:
Rehabilitation of our aging steel bridge inventory is a common topic of discussion in the bridge community. The primary source of deterioration of steel bridge beams is leakage through failed deck joints resulting in corrosion and section loss at the beam ends. The webinar will cover the research and implementation of an innovative, rapid and cost-effective way to repair corroded beam ends using UHPC. The research was funded by the Connecticut DOT and undertaken by the University of Connecticut. This resulting technology was implemented on a bridge carrying I-91 in New Haven, CT. The presentation will include research results and lessons learned from field implementation.
