Description: This 2017 National ABC Conference Lateral Slide Award winner was constructed in the spring of 2017 to replace an aging truss railroad bridge originally built in 1911. The five-span, 545-ft-long replacement bridge is located on the Fall Bridge Subdivision between Pasco, Washington and Portland, Oregon. The replacement occurred during two 32-hour closures to maintain the 40 trains at 40 miles per hour crossing this bridge daily. Substructures were constructed beneath the existing bridge prior to bridge closure. The presentation includes design and construction details and lessons learned.
