Featured Presentation: Georgia DOT's Accelerated Bridge Construction Policy - Success Story (35 minutes)
Description:
This webinar highlights the Georgia Department of Transportation’s distinctive Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) Policy, which prioritizes strategic project selection to reduce overall bridge construction durations to 3–6 months. GDOT’s approach emphasizes comprehensive schedule compression through innovative construction methods tailored to Georgia’s infrastructure needs. Drawing on the official GDOT ABC guidance manual and supporting tools, this presentation will cover policy criteria, selection processes, and practical implementation strategies. It will also provide an update on how the policy is currently working within the department, showcasing its effectiveness in advancing project delivery, minimizing public disruption, and enhancing bridge construction outcomes. Attendees will gain valuable insights into GDOT’s evolving framework for accelerating bridge projects across the state.Presenters:

Description:
Many steel culverts installed during the 1950s and 1960s are reaching the end of their design life. Replacing these poor culverts in many cases disrupts traffic and reduces mobility. Some of the existing solutions for repair and strengthening demand adding large thicknesses of material that could reduce hydraulic capacity of culverts. Sprayable Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) offers an excellent solution for corrosion protection and/or strengthening existing poor culverts steel, or concrete. IBT/ABC-UTC has developed a sprayable UHPC that is ready for field application. Ongoing research is aimed at further development of sprayable UHPC for application to steel or concrete culverts. A startup company has been established to provide the needed service to agencies. This webinar will present the overview of sprayable UHPC technology and research studies being carried out for its application to steel or concrete culverts.Presenters:
