Research

The focus of the UTC-ABC is to reduce the societal costs of construction by reducing the duration of work zones while maintaining special attention to preservation, service life, and construction costs. Toward this end, the three consortium universities are conducting a number of ABC-related research projects.

Selection of research topics involves a peer review process by bridge professionals knowledgeable of bridge engineering and ABC from a national perspective. The process is carried out in collaboration with the AASHTO Subcommittee on Bridges and Structures (SCOBS), including the SCOBS Technical Committee for Construction (T-4) and other SCOBS technical committees, and ABC-UTC advisory committees representing various segments of the bridge community.

The research projects conducted by the ABC-UTC are listed below. Each project link provides basic information about the research project as well as the latest quarterly report and other details.
