FHWA Incentive-Based Funding – Incentive-based funding mechanisms are available for owner agencies who are looking to implement innovations such as prefabricated bridge elements and systems and other ABC related strategies into their program/projects.

  • Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) grant: Created in 2014, the AID Demonstration Program  promotes the deployment of proven innovations that can deliver road and bridge projects more cost-effectively among state, local, and tribal governments. State DOTs may apply on their own behalf or on behalf of metropolitan planning organizations and local governments. More information … 
  • State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC): Created in 2013, the STIC Incentive Program offers technical assistance and funds — up to $100,000 per STIC per year — to support the costs of standardizing innovative practices in a state transportation agency or other public sector STIC stakeholder. State DOTs are encouraged to work with local FHWA Division Offices regarding the STIC program. More information …
