2021 – Engineering First! Teacher Workshop

The ABC-UTC continues to pursue workforce development activities with national impact. As part of these activities, ISU has partnered with a local elementary school to develop customizable less plans for K-5 students. These lesson plans are designed to take less than 45 minutes per day, four days a week for four weeks and take students from a basic understanding of what is engineering to specifics about bridge engineering and ABC.

Three workshops will be held this summer in Reno (NV), Norman (OK), and Seattle (WA).

Participants in these two-day workshops will be introduced to the Engineering First! curriculum, guided through the activities and will be assisted in customizing the activities for their classrooms.

The lesson plans have continued to be used in classrooms this school year. Participants in these workshops will discuss best practices for implementing engineering curriculum while following COVID-19 guidelines.

This year’s workshop will be two days. The first day will be a live (synchronous) virtual training with the same date for attendees all around the country.

  • Day 1: Virtual Training on July 14

The second day of the workshop will be in person at three different locations. The dates for the second day of the workshop are:

  • Day 2: July 21 in Norman (OK) at the University of Oklahoma
  • Day 2: August 4 in Reno (NV) at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Day 2: August 11 in Seattle (WA) at the University of Washington (UW Flyer)

Attendees may register for both days of training or virtual training only. Click below to begin the registration process.
