The Big Move: PennDOT to close Route 19/51 Wednesday to prepare for moving new Shaler Street bridge into place

PennDOT is replacing the Shaler Street Bridge using the Accelerated Bridge Construction Method. This is the first time such a techinque will be used in the state of Pennsylvania. This construction is a part of a $14.3 milion contract that includes replacing the Shaler Street Bridge in addition to resrufacing the highway and lowering the exit to Parkway West to prevent trucks from hitting the overhead bridge located there.
